The Brenda Novak and Paul Eykelhof November 10, 2007 workshop resulted in requests for submissions to Harlequin by several of the CaRWA members: Vicki Chatham, Joyce Ramsey, Suzanne Stengl, Lauren Hawkeye, Donna Tunney, and Dara-Lee Snow.

Lauren Hawkeye: received a second offer from Whispers Publications.

Donna Alward: is holding a Christmas contest....for a prize pack. Details are on her blog. Sign up for her mailing list and on November 17th, she will do a random draw from her subscribers. Virna de Paul w/a Nina Meyers: just returned from South Carolina and a great retreat with Jenny Crusie, Nina Bruhn, and Susan Meier.

Donna Alward: signed a new two book contract with Harlequin Romance. The first book is titled FALLING FOR MR DARK AND DANGEROUS and will be released in August 2008.

Julie Rowe: finaled in the Finally A Bride contest sponsored by the Oklahoma Romance Writers.

Wenda Dottridge: received a request from an editor for her full manuscript. This same manuscript finaled in the Golden Network contest.

Joyce Ramsey: had a request from Avalon. They want to read the whole manuscript!

Wenda Dottridge: placed second in the Inspirational Category of the Tampa Area RWA’s contest.

Ryshia Kennie: signed a contract with Black Lyon Publishing for her first book FROM THE DUST, which is scheduled for release December 2007.

Kellie Finley Marchak: in 2008, Kellie will be offering her online website clases at: March: Lowcountry RWA, June: Hearts Through History Romance Writers, November: Mystery/Suspense Chapter (Kiss of Death). Check these websites for registration information as the course date gets closer. In addition, Kellie is working on proposals for several “mini-courses” (two weeks in length) that deal with specialized technology areas like blogs, ebulletins, trailers, and MySpace pages.

Cara Colter: won the Career Achievement Award from Romantic Times in the Love and Laughter category.

Vivi Anna: not only is Vivi Anna off to Houston for the Romantic Times Booklover Conventionf but her book INFERNO finaled in the Passionate Plume for best erotic futuristic/sci-f. Winners will be announced at the RWA National Convention in July. Plus the book trailer for INFERNO was nominated for two Cameo (book trailer film awards) awards, one for best erotic/romance trailer, and for best science fiction trailer. The winners will be announced May 5.

Barbara Dunlop: announce's her April Harlequin Desire release THE BILLIONAIRE'S BIDDING made number one on the Borders bestseller list for this week.

Donna Alward: announces THE GIRL MOST LIKELY has been nominated for Cataromance's "Best First E-book of 2006".

Alli Sinclair: has received her PRO status!

Donna Wickens: has received her PRO status!

Cara Colter: announces that THE PRINCE AND THE NANNY made the Waldenbooks bestseller list in March. As well, the book received a 4 1/2 star rating from Romantic Times.

C J Carmichael: went to the spectacular Kicking Horse Mountain Resort in Golden, BC, to act as a writing coach for a reality TV show called THE LETTERS...REDISCOVERING THE ART OF COURTSHIP (Season II). March 2007

Barbara Dunlop: is a finalist in the RWA Rita contest for THE PERFECT BOYFRIEND in the Best Short Contemporary Romance category.

Kellie Finley Marchak: has been asked to participate in some "instructor interviews" for the KOD (Kiss of Death) chapter of Romance Writers of America during April. And you can catch Kellie's website design workshop in May through the KOD chapter. Check the KOD website for more details.

Ryshia Kennie: recently sold a travel article to www.touristtravel.com. The article will be published the last week in March.

Julie Rowe: has more great news. Based on a synopsis she recently submitted to Mills and Boon, she's had a request to submit a partial. As well, she's sold a a second article to Canadian Living's health editor, which will be out in August 2007. The title of the article is Food That Helps You Sleep.

C J Carmichael: CJ has a new trilogy in the works. Books 25, 26 and 27 will be on the shelves in Feb/08, July/08 and Nov/08. Watch for them then!

Pamela Yaye: is off to Toronto to tape the game show, Test The Nation.

Astrid M. Theilgaard: has had the full manuscript of CRUSADE D'AMOUR requested by agent Sha-Shana. CRUSADE is the partial Astrid sent to Sha-Shana right after the 2006 Crossing The Threshold conference in Calgary, Alberta.

Virna de Paul w/a Nina Meyers: has finaled in the Smokey Mountain Laurie contest with her romantic suspense manuscript, TRIAL BY FIRE.

Vivi Anna: has been nominated for a PEARL, (Paranormal Excellence Award for Romantic Literature) in the Futuristic Romance category for her Kensington Aphrodisia book HELL KAT. Voting is taking place now and winners will be announced Feb 14 at the PNR chat at Writerspace.com.

January 2007

Shannon Bolger: under the name of Jade Buchanan, Shannon has seven novellas coming out in 2007, six from Changeling Press and one from Triskelion Publishing.

Cara Colter: has received a RT Best Books Award nomination for best Silhouette Romance for her book A Vow To Keep.

Donna Alward: announces May 2007 and September 2007 sales to Harlequin Romance.

C J Carmichael: this month, CJ will appear on CBC on the show Calgary Living. Stay tuned for more details. And airing in February or March, CJ is a writing coach on the reality TV show "The Letters".
